Raising of Commonwealth flag another step towards Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

WARWICK District Council marked Commonwealth Day with by raising the flag.

Council chairman Martyn Ashford says the raising was another step in the countdown to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

It took place on Commonwealth Day (Monday) which is celebrated by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.

Coun Ashford said: “The raising of the flag is an important symbol of the connection the district has with the countries of the Commonwealth and we are very proud to continue this tradition to commemorate Commonwealth Day.




“We look forward to welcoming many of these nations next year when St Nicholas Park becomes the start and finish venue for the Cycling Road Race event in Warwick and Leamington’s Victoria Park hosts the Lawn Bowls and Para Bowls as part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.”
