Receive rewards for travelling sustainably in Leamington

Leamington Editorial 8th Jul, 2019   0

TOWNSPEOPLE will soon earn rewards for travelling sustainably in Leamington.

Warwick District Council is launching an app called Choose How You Move which rewards people with points when they walk, cycle or use public transport.

The points are then redeemable on the high street or can be donated to charity.

People can use the app to plan their journey ahead of travel.

And they can also use it to keep healthy, monitoring their fitness levels and earning points when they hit milestones.

The programme will be available to join from mid-July for an initial period of four weeks before going live later this year.

District health pokeswoman Coun Judy Falp said: “This scheme enables visitors to Leamington the chance to earn rewards to spend in some of the town’s best shops, simply by choosing a greener and more sustainable form of transport.

“Management of air quality is a priority for Warwick District Council and one of the primary aims of this programme is to try and reduce harmful emissions in Leamington by encouraging visitors, where possible, to reduce the number of trips they make by car.”
