REGISTRATION is now open for The Shakespeare Hospice’s Dragon Boat Race.
The annual fundraiser takes place this year on Sunday September 24 on the River Avon in Stratford and teams are being invited to sign up early so as not to miss out.
The dragon boat race see crews of up to 17 people, sitting in pairs, paddle it out over distances of around 250 metres. Each boat has a drummer, beating time to keep the paddlers in unison. And more often than not, participants add to the adrenaline-pumping fun by wearing fancy dress.
Crowds line the river bank to watch the various heats before the overall winner is crowned. It is a great team building event, especially for local businesses.
Early bird registrations are open throughout March, with an entry fee of just £100 per team, plus sponsorship.
The cash raised from this event will go towards helping The Shakespeare Hospice deliver its vital care services to the local community.
