INTERNATIONALLY-RENOWNED landscape photographer Joe Cornish killed two birds with one stone on a recent visit to Leamington.
The main reason for Joe making the journey from his north Yorkshire home was to give a talk, hosted by Leamington Spa Photographic Society at Leamington’s All Saints’ parish church, about his work and passion for landscapes.
But he also took the opportunity to deliver his artistic images to Gallery Photiq in the town, which is due to stage an exhibition of Joe’s photographs.
Joe’s talk, which attracted an audience of more than 130 landscape enthusiasts, covered his journey from gaining a fine arts degree in 1980, via commissions for the National Trust, to becoming one of the UK’s leading landscape photographers.
LSPS chairman Peter Chappell described it as the highlight of the Society’s photographic season – and the evening coincided with its annual exhibition at the church.
Looking round the exhibition earlier in the day, Joe observed that there was ‘a huge variety of genres’ on display which he said showed ‘the joyousness of photography.’
And he added: “I am a great advocate of prints, and the standard of prints on display is excellent.”
Joe’s talk was illustrated with projections of a large number of atmospheric images from throughout his career.
But there will be an opportunity to see a number of the actual fine art prints at Gallery Photiq in Park Street, in June.

“The prints, made by Joe himself, are simply stunning, some of the best I’ve ever seen. Even more exciting is the fact that most of these photographs have never been exhibited before.”
The ‘Wild Remains’ exhibition, which runs at Gallery Photiq from June 11 to July 27, will include many images that Joe, who will attend in person on July 20, has taken only recently.
