Residents urged to hold two minute silence on their doorsteps on Remembrance Sunday

LEAMINGTON’S Remembrance Sunday service has been cancelled due to the pandemic.

Following the announcement of a countrywide lockdown, the town council and fellow organisers have called off the memorial wreath laying on Sunday (November 8).

Residents are encouraged to observe the two minute silence from home on their doorstep.

Leamington mayor Susan Rasmussen said: “The Leamington Town Council, in consultation with partners, have made the tough decision to cancel this year’s Remembrance Sunday service due to the ongoing pandemic.

“We realise that this is disappointing, but our priority at this time must be to keep people safe in their home environment.

“We are encouraging people to take part in the two-minute doorstep silence to recognise all those who served and sacrificed, from the safety of their homes.”
