Residents urged to sign up to become 'Covid Champions'

COVID champions are needed across Warwickshire.

Trading Standards is calling for residents to sign up to its free course to provide engagement between Warwickshire County Council and the community over test and trace and coronavirus prevention.

The virtual course – which runs over four weeks starting on Monday November 16 – will help residents understand more about the impact of the pandemic and how they can help others in the community.

It will include talks from professionals and community groups including on topics including test and trace, local support services and supporting vulnerable people.

Following a welcome meeting, the course will be held every Wednesday from 7pm for four weeks.

A council spokesman said: “You will be awarded a certificate at the end of the course. More importantly you will hopefully become more aware of the effect of the pandemic and the role you can play to help others to get through it. You will also have much more knowledge about becoming an active citizen in your community and the services that surround you. You will have the opportunity to connect with new people and develop local networks.”
