Retired army veterans saddle up in honour of those who fought in First World War

Leamington Editorial 20th Oct, 2018   0

RETIRED army veterans living at a Royal British Legion care home are saddling up in honour of those who fought in the First World War.

Residents, veterans and staff at Galanos House in Southam will take on the equivalent of a 270 mile bike ride from October 26 to 28.

But so all can take part, the home is setting up an exercise bike where supporters can also jump in the saddle.

The distance is the equivalent to riding from Southam to the Armistice Glade in Compeigne, France, where the armistice was signed 100 years ago.

The ride is being held to remember those who fought and died in the war, and to raise funds to pay for trips and entertainment for residents.

Visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/galanoshousearmisticeride to donate or call the care home on 01926 812185 to sign up to the ride.
