Rhea bird killed and chicks stolen from farm

THIEVES killed a male Rhea bird and stole 14 chicks and a female from a farm near Southam.

The attack and theft in Avon Dassett is believed to have happened overnight on Sunday (June 30).

The large, flightless birds are native to South America and distantly related to the ostrich and emu.

Anyone with information about the birds or who sees them for sale should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
