Leamington Editorial 22nd Aug, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

A 63-YEAR-OLD man had to be airlifted to hospital after crashing into a tree.

Emergency services were called to the A429 between Wellesbourne and Ettington around 7.30am on Monday (August 22).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found a blue Mitsubishi side on against a tree with significant damage on the driver’s side.

“Due to his injuries, ambulance staff quickly removed the man, who was suffering from fractured ribs, chest and possibly pelvic injuries.

“He was then airlifted to University Hospital in Coventry where medics were on standby.”

The man, who was travelling towards Ettington in a Mitsubishi estate car at the time of the crash, was described as being in a stable but serious condition upon arrival.

The road was initially closed in both directions but has since re-opened.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call police on 101.
