A DOG charity in Romania is getting a much-needed helping paw from a Leamington PR firm.

R&Co Communications will provide PR, social media and SEO services for Speranta Shelter in Bucharest, which translates to The Hope Shelter and provides a home to around 500 rescued dogs.

The charity rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes across Romania, including elderly and disabled dogs. It also has a focus on education and sterilisation to improve the overall situation in the country, which is believed to be home to between 500,000 and one million strays.

R&Co’s experienced team of social media and PR specialists, which include former editors and journalists, will help Speranta raise its profile in the UK.

To celebrate, four members of the R&Co team visited the Speranta shelter in Bucharest to meet the team and see their work first-hand.

R&Co is further supporting the charity by creating a Speranta-themed tree at Leamington’s annual Christmas Tree Festival in the hope of raising donations. The ‘Tree of Hope for Speranta’s Dogs’ will be on display at All Saints Parish Church from 30 November to 7 December.

R&Co managing director, Peter Robinson, said: “We are delighted to be working with such an amazing charity and helping spread news of its incredible work. It was great for the team to visit the shelter and see first-hand the difference Speranta makes to the dogs its team care for.

“We will work hard to ensure we deliver outstanding results for not only the Speranta team, but the wonderful animals in their care.”

Anca Tomescu, an internationally renowned veterinary surgeon who leads Speranta, was looking forward to working with R&Co.

she added: “As many Romanian dogs now live in the UK we know many people are passionate about dogs in our country, so we are looking forward to letting people know how we are continuing to proactively tackle the situation here in Romania.”
