Runners limber up for the Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon

RUNNERS are set to take to the streets of Stratford for the Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday April 26.

Starting and finishing at The Recreation Ground, the event will see participants take on either a marathon or half marathon distance on a flat, closed-road course through the historic town and surrounding Warwickshire countryside.

Beginning at 9am, the route heads from the town centre past the racecourse and out towards Luddington and Welford, before returning via the Stratford Greenway, with the half marathon completing one lap and the marathon taking on an extended second loop.

Organised by RunThrough in partnership with the Stratford Rotary Club, the event is a popular fixture in the local calendar and is expected to attract runners from across the region and beyond.

Many participants will also be running in support of The Shakespeare Hospice, a local charity dedicated to providing specialised care and support to those affected by a life-limiting illness or bereavement.

Spectators are encouraged to come along and support runners throughout the course and at the town centre finish.
