THE SALVATION Army’s ‘Way Ahead Project’ has received recognition for their work with vulnerable people in Leamington.
The charity – which helps those experiencing homelessness and addiction – was shortlisted by the Chartered Institute of Housing in the ‘Excellence in Community Action’ category.
The project operates from the Salvation Army church in Chapel Street and provides people with advice and support.
Project leader Jonathan Chilvers said: “We’re not here to provide a sticking plaster for homelessness, but to help people turn their lives around and create a positive community where people can reach their full potential.”
The project, which started in 1999, involves over 30 volunteers who welcome around 270 people each year.
The winner of the award will be announced later this week.
