Santa Dash raises almost £40,000 for The Myton Hospices

A SANTA dash has banked almost £40,000 for The Myton Hospices.

A record breaking 1,297 runners, decked out in their festive finest, filled the streets of Leamington for the annual fundraiser.

And the cash collected in sponsorship has reached £38,750 and counting.

This will help fund the Warwick Myton Inpatient Unit for a week this Christmas.

Participants could run, jog or walk their way around Victoria Park while dressed up as their favourite Christmas character.

Santa was at the finish line congratulating the winners, while there were also face painters, food vendors, an inflatable snow globe and Christmas games.

For youngsters there was Myton’s Mini Dash and there was a best dressed dog competition, run by Lala’s Pet Treats.

Every dasher taking part received a Santa Dash medal to hang on their tree.

The Myton Hospices supports people living with a terminal illness and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

A spokesperson said they would like to thank everyone for their support including the marshals and volunteers and Leamington mayor Coun Alan Boad for starting the race.
