School gets top marks for PE lessons

AN ACTIVE Leamington school has earned full marks for its PE lessons.

Clapham Terrace Primary is one of five schools nationally to receive an ‘Association for Physical Education’ (afPE) quality mark with a distinction.

It has introduced a number of sports schemes and events which encourage youngsters to get active – including Marathon Kids which challenges them to run to achieve set milestones and distances.

Teacher Katie O’Kelly said: “We are delighted to receive the afPE quality mark with distinction. The award highlights our dedication to providing inclusive and competitive sport and physical activity for all children. It has been possible with the hard work and commitment of our outstanding teachers, who have implemented and championed initiatives such as Marathon Kids, Active 60 and Maths a Day.

“Our children are proud to participate in house events, fundraisers, festivals and host school games events. By providing a broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure that all our children have the best start for being happy, healthy and active individuals.”
