Scouts to fly into Wasps' nest

SCOUTS are set to fly into the Wasps’ nest.

Warwickshire Scouts need to enlist the help of 50 volunteers to enable more young people to join the club.

Currently there is a waiting list of 500 people, with 190 of those from Leamington and Warwick.

And to help raise awareness about the need for volunteers, more than 1,000 scouts are set to take over the Wasps Nest Fan Village at the Ricoh Arena ahead of a match against London Irish on Sunday (March 4).

Between 12.30pm and 2.30pm they will offer families the chance to try their hands at soft archery, indoor caving and a 70ft obstacle course.

Warwickshire Scouts deputy commissioner Wendy Williams said: “The scouts are experiencing a surge in popularity which is fuelled by celebrity endorsement.

“We are desperately seeking adult volunteers who can give up some of their spare time to help make a difference to young people in the region.

“We are grateful to Wasps for giving us an opportunity to showcase what we are all about to thousands of new people.”
