SCOUTS will be travelling in style after raising more than £14,000 to buy a new minibus.
The 1st Bishops Itchington Scouts received grants and donations to help secure the money needed to buy a new bus.
The 50-strong-group – which also includes beavers, cubs and explorers – were forced to get a new vehicle after the previous one became uneconomical to repair.
A group spokesman said: “We were able to buy a minibus which was far beyond our initial expectations.
“We would humbly like to thank everyone involved, and the children look forward to some trips away.
“While scouting includes the usual local activities there is also a large element which requires travel. Children take part in the fun and excitement of camps, hikes, and trips to places of national interest. It may be the first time some children spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure and an opportunity to build strong relationships and friendships.”
