Search is on to find community heroes

Ian Hughes 13th Oct, 2017

THE SEARCH is on for unsung law and order heroes in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe has launched a quest for nominations for a new award to recognise people in the county who have made an ‘outstanding contribution’ to policing or community safety.

The new PCC Award for Excellence in Policing and Community Safety will be presented for the first time at Warwickshire Police’s 160th anniversary celebrations and awards evening in November.

Nominations ar being sought, either for individuals or teams working within Warwickshire who have demonstrated sustained outstanding achievement over and above what is expected of them in their normal day-to-day role.

Their actions must have contributed to a reduction in crime or disorder or helped bring about improvements in community safety in support of the priorities of the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan for Warwickshire, making a real difference under challenging circumstances.

Officers, police staff, volunteers, members of the Special Constabulary or individuals or teams from the wider community in Warwickshire are eligible for the award.

Mr Seccombe will make the final selection from those nominated.

He said: “While the Chief Constable has a number of awards already to recognise good police work and to commend officers and staff for exceptional work in dealing with incidents or investigations, I have been keen to develop a new award which highlights teams or individuals from within policing and the wider community who make a real difference to Warwickshire by regularly going above and beyond what is expected in their day-to-day role.”

The deadline for nominations is October 27. Visit www.warwickshire-pcc.gov.uk/pccaward to download a nomination form.
