Seeking to honour Warwickshire's dedicated volunteers

Leamington Editorial 8th Jun, 2022   0

WARWICKSHIRE Community and Voluntary Action (CAVA) is seeking nominations for those who make a difference in the county.

CAVA, together with the county, district and borough councils, are seeking individuals or teams for the Volunteer Awards 2022.

Awards will be offered across a range of themes, including Health and Well-being, Leisure and Sports, Environment, Creativity and Heritage, Young Volunteer, Community Impact, Unsung Hero and Long Service Award.

Last year CAVA received over 115 nominations, and the panel heard many stories, about selfless people, dedicating time to help others, and also recognised two volunteers with ‘Special Recognition’ awards.

A CAVA spokesperson said: “One in four adults in England volunteer formally, through a club or other organisation, at least once a month – and many more do things informally too. To replace these 10.6 million people with paid workers would cost nearly £20 billion.

“We want to celebrate these men and women across the borough, who tirelessly give their time and energy to help others. Whether it is running clubs, tending to open spaces, inspiring children, creating art, cooking meals, listening, providing support to new parents, or providing school children with breakfast.”

The 2022 winners will be announced at events across the county in July.

Anyone who wants to nominate a volunteer or team of volunteersneeds to complete a brief form which can be done online, saying why they have made their nomination. A volunteer supervisor can nominate their own volunteer team.

Forms can be found on the Warwickshire CAVA website –

Anyone needing more information can also email [email protected] or call 01926 477512.

The closing date for nominations is Monday June 13.
