Series of indecent exposure incidents leads to police appeal

Laura Kearns 18th May, 2021   0

INDECENT exposure incidents have led police to launch an appeal for information.

The most recent incident saw a woman in her 50s walking alone along the canal between Gulliman’s Way and Radbrooke Road in Leamington at around 6.20am on Sunday May 8 when she saw a man exposing himself.

The man was wearing a blue hoody, black facemask, jeans and white trainers. He was around 6ft tall and of stocky build.

The previous five reported incidents, which happened across Leamington, Whitnash and Bishop’s Itchington, all took place early in the morning and saw the suspect approach women and expose himself.

Det Insp Ruby Nailor said: “We are treating this incident as linked to other recent offences in the area. We are extremely concerned by this behaviour and are working hard to bring the person responsible to justice.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and can help identify the man involved to contact police. We’re also keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

“An incident of indecent exposure can be extremely distressing for those who witness it and we take all reports extremely seriously. I would urge anyone who is a victim to contact police as quickly as possible rather than wait until they get home. All incidents of indecent exposure will receive an immediate police response and reporting promptly gives us the best chance of catching offenders.”

On April 29 a 25-year-old man from Dudley was arrested in connection with the offences and remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and speak to police or ring 0800 555 111 to speak to Crimestoppers anonymously.
