Severn Trent urges people to stay away from visitor sites over Easter

SEVERN Trent is reminding people to stay away from its visitor sites this Easter weekend as they remain closed to help limit the spread of coronavirus.

The company closed all of its visitor sites in March, including Draycote Water near Rugby and Shustoke near Solihull, and is now reminding people to keep safe and stay away over the long bank holiday.

Donna Marshall, Senior Visitor Engagement Officer said: “We know people are still attempting to access our sites, as we found an abandoned boat at one of our reservoirs but they’re shut for a very good reason – we’re helping reduce the spread of coronavirus and hope everyone understands that.

“With the long weekend coming up, we know there will be a temptation for some people to use our sites as a place to have their one walk or cycle a day, but we’re really asking that everyone keeps away, for their own safety and the safety of our communities.”

Severn Trent closed all ten of its visitor sites to help reduce the chance of the virus spreading and to protect the public and will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

“We didn’t make this decision lightly,” added Donna. “We know our sites are well-used and people enjoy visiting, and we can’t wait to welcome everybody back when things are settled. But right now it’s really important that everyone listens to the government advice and keeps safe, and away.”
