AFGHAN refugees have received a welcoming helping hand from shoppers at a Leamington supermarket.
Morrisons was inundated with donations of clothes, household goods, toys and baby items when it launched an appeal to support families who have fled the war-torn country.
The store’s community champion Alex Pearson said: “When I released the post on my community page I thought I would only get a few items of clothes but I was so wrong. The post was shared over 400 times and we was tagged into many posts to let people know Morrisons were accepting donations.
“Hearing that people came 40 minutes away just to drop off some toys or to see people adding kettles to their shopping so they could donate was just amazing.
“The support from the community was amazing.”
The donations were given to Carriers of Hope and The British Red Cross.
Warwickshire Search and Rescue helped transport the donations.
