Song requests still open for online Leamington bandstand gig

NOMINATIONS are still open for song dedications as part of an online gig to be filmed at Leamington’s bandstand.

In light of the third national lockdown, Warwick District Council is extending its deadline for nominations for the special event dedicated to those in the district who have been affected by covid-19.

The brainchild of the council’s Green Spaces team, BandStand Together is an online gig, which will be recorded at a future date on the newly restored bandstand in the Pump Room Gardens. To provide the playlist, the council is making a call to local people to dedicate a song to someone who has made a difference in the community, or had a particularly difficult time due to the pandemic.

District councillor Alan Rhead said: “The events of the past ten months have touched the lives of many in our district, this is a fantastic opportunity to say thank you or remember someone special. We know that the latest lockdown will have brought even tougher times affecting even more people in our community, we therefore hope that lots of you will now take the time to visit our website to make a nomination.”

The dedicated songs will be performed by local musicians who the council is inviting to play for a nominal fee. Those interested in taking part should contact [email protected] for more information.

Further details and updates on ‘Bandstand Together’ can be found on the Warwick District Council website.

The new closing date to nominate a song is Monday February 15.
