Soundbaths offer chance to rest, relax and reset

Leamington Editorial 26th Jun, 2021   0

IF the sound of the government announcing an extra few weeks of restrictions has left you stressed, help could be at hand thanks to sounds of a different kind aimed at allowing people to rest, relax and reset.

Jenny Critchlow, a highly-experienced teacher and therapist through her business The Peace Gym, has been guiding those in need of a spot of clam through her Soundbaths.

Soundbaths feature the chance to relax or meditate while experiencing a gentle soundtrack produced by Jenny on a range of singing bowls and gongs. Blending together gentle sounds, says Jenny, allows people to escape the constant sensory demands of everyday life.

“People often ask me what it does. The answer really is it does whatever your experience of it does for you. People get lots of different things from it. It’s a very relaxing, enjoyable experience so ‘be brave’ and try it out,” says Jenny.

The current series of one-hour sessions is being held at the Dorothea Mitchell Hall in Claverdon, attracting men and women of all ages.

“You will need to bring your own blankets and pillows – the floor is wooden – and eye pillows if you use them. Masks need to be worn while moving about the room but can be removed when lying down. Sanitiser will be supplied at the entrance,” adds Jenny.

The current series of Soundbaths runs weekly on Tuesday evenings until July 13. Visit thepeacegym.com for full details.
