AN INTERNATIONAL festival showcased a film by a Leamington College student.
Joseph Wallace’s film ‘Face in Salt’ was selected to be shown at the prestigious Miami Film Festival.
It comes less than a year after it was debuted at Cannes Film Festival, which was this year attended by the likes of Martin Scorsese and Cate Blanchett.
The 33-year-old’s film tells the story of young man desperate to connect to a British girl following a date.
The budding director, from Leamington, credits his course with giving him the skills which have found him international fame.
But his ongoing film work means he will be unable to attend the festival in America earlier this month.
He said: “A digital film course can provide somebody like me a greater understanding of the technical aspects of film making.
“Having a film selected for the Miami Film Festival is great.”
College lecturer Liane Green credited the student’s passion for film which she says are shown in his work.
She said: “Joe’s talents and dedication to his craft are clear. He is passionate about film and the world around him and presents this within the film.
“The study of film supports and enables creativity, especially today with the exposure to a fast pace of media platforms that both inspire and create a competitive space for filmmakers.”
