Stepping back in time as Victorian Night returns to Warwick

FESTIVE-MINDED folk will be stepping back in time as Warwick’s Victorian Evening returns.

There will be a chance to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Christmas as the town’s popular Victorian Evening returns on Thursday November 25.

The event starts from noon in the Market Square and surrounding streets with a Victorian market – a new addition for 2021. The era-themed rides start from 3pm, with the main event starting at 5pm. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 7pm.

There will also be an opportunity to meet real life reindeer at the Lord Leycester Hospital. And, keeping with tradition, the Christmas Tree Festival will be taking place in St Mary’s Church.

People are also encouraged to get into the historic spirit by pulling on their best 19th century outfit and the possibility of being named best dressed Victorian – with prizes for both adults and youngsters.

Warwick mayor Richard Edgington said: “It’s been a difficult 18 months for all concerned. We can’t wait to bring some festive cheer to Warwick with our wonderful Victorian evening and Christmas lights switch-on. It’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season in our fabulous town.”

Current public health guidance will be in place. People are urged to ‘lateral flow before you go’ and to not attend if they have any Covid symptoms.
