A SUPER-SLIMMER from Leamington has been picked out of nearly one million people to be a weight loss magazine cover star.
Nikki McDonnell managed to lose three stone in three months and has kept the weight off for 13 years.
And the hard work has paid off after the 34-year-old was asked to star on the cover of this season’s Slimming World magazine – which has a readership of more than 500,000 and is one of the best-read magazines in the UK.
Nikki, who has become a senior Slimming World consultant since losing her weight, told the Observer: “It felt amazing to be asked to be on the cover. I couldn’t believe it. They just called me up and asked me, I was so excited.
“I think the reason I was chosen is because I lost my weight quickly but also because I kept it off. In the magazine there is the story of my journey, which tells of how I lost weight after seeing an unflattering picture of myself and feeling like all my clothes were too tight.”
Nikki also runs her own blog giving weight loss tips. She has some 47,000 followers who enjoy her recipes and motivational posts.
She said: “Sharing pictures of my meals and recipes really helps to keep me on track too.
“I’m so passionate about helping people to be happy and if my blog helps one person, let alone over 40,000 then I’m thrilled.”
Her slimming group meets every Thursday at Cubbington Sports and Social Club.
