THE ROYAL Pump Rooms Museum and Art Gallery has been voted among the most popular visitor attractions in England.

The Leamington museum was voted among the nation’s favourite free visitor attractions in a survey by coach operator National Express.

It was listed at number 35 in the top 50 – just behind a Banksy walking tour of Bristol and ahead of Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire.

Top of the list was the The Lake District, followed by the Peak District Hills, Brighton Pier, Hadrian’s Wall, and Newquay’s beaches in Cornwall.

Other regional attractions on the list include Coventry Transport Museum, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and Birmingham Library, Lickey Hills country park near Birmingham, and Belgrave Hall in Leicestershire.

* ARTISTS are being encouraged to enter work in Leamington Art Gallery and Museum’s Open Exhibition.

The bi-annual exhibition is open to professional artists aged 18 and older who live or work in the West Midlands and will run from April 14 to June 25.

There will be one overall prize winner who will receive the Open 2017 award of £1,000 and visitors to the exhibition will also have the chance to vote for their favourite artwork with the winner being presented with the People’s Choice Award of £500.

Work being entered must have been completed no earlier than January 2016.

Artists can submit a maximum of two artworks online or bring their work to the gallery.
