AUDIENCES at the Talisman Theatre are being invited to jet off to the land of Oz for the next production.
The Kenilworth-based theatre is putting on ‘Ladies Down Under’ as its first mainstage production of 2023.
The fast-paced comedy follows four likely lasses from the Hull fish docks, who made their debut in Ladies’ Day, previously staged at The Talisman Theatre in 2017.
The prequel saw these ladies win an absolute fortune at the races and now the four of them – Pearl (Kathy Buckingham-Underhill), Jan (Caroline McCluskey), Shelley (Eleanor Lake), and Linda (Emma Ritson) are celebrating by spending their winnings on the trip of a lifetime to Australia.
Amanda Whittington’s funny and heart-warming sequel to Ladies’ Day promises to whisk you through Shelley’s adventures down under as she dreams of luxury and glamour while the rest of the ‘girls on tour’ decide to go native and camp out under the stars of Uluru.
However, not all goes to plan as Shelley soon discovers there’s more on offer than smart hotels and sun-kissed surfers, Pearl has her own mountain to climb, Jan is terrified her boyfriend will lose interest in her whilst she’s away and Linda continues to struggle with the burden this new fortune brings her. What promises to be the trip of a lifetime becomes a life-changing adventure as each woman discovers something about herself and the bond between them all deepens.
Directed by Graham Buckingham-Underhill, who also directed the prequel in 2017, Ladies Down Under runs from Monday January 30 to Saturday February 4. Tickets can be booked online via the website www.talismantheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01926 856548.
