THIEVES struck a cash security van outside Tesco in Lillington this morning.

It is rumoured the thieves wore masks and were armed with a sledgehammer when they stole cash from outside the Cubbington Road store at around 11.15am today (Thursday September 7).

The offenders fled in a black Citron with a white roof and wing mirrors, driving along Cubbington Road towards the roundabout which leads towards Leamington Spa or Ryton.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was not injured.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or its registration number is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident 118 of September 7.
