Thousands at risk in south Warwickshire after failing to have flu jab

MORE than 50,000 people in south Warwickshire are at risk of flu after not having jabs.

Those susceptible to flu have been offered a free vaccine, but South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says many have not had the preventative jab.

So far only four per cent of two and three-year-olds in the area have been vaccinated while just 30 per cent of pregnant women have had the jab.

CCG chair Dr David Spraggett said: “Flu is a highly contagious illness that spreads rapidly. It can cause serious complications for at risk groups, such as the elderly, expectant mothers and people with long term health conditions.

“My advice for anyone eligible for the free flu vaccination is to get it now before it is too late. It is the best protection we have against an unpredictable virus, that’s why it’s free for people who need it.”
