A THUG who tried to bite a policewoman’s leg during his arrest has been jailed.
Darren Amor, of no fixed address, was arrested following an incident in the town. During the arrest, he tried to bite an officer’s leg, and kicked out as he was being put into the back of a police van.
He also headbutted another officer and verbally abused him.
The 47-year-old was taken into custody at Leamington, where he had to be carried to the cell area, and kicked at officers. He then smeared mess in his cell and caused extensive damage
Amor later pleaded guilty to three charges of assaulting emergency workers and one count of causing criminal damage. Last week he was sentenced to 14 months for the assaults, with a consecutive two-month sentence for damaging the cell.
Sgt Jacob Tyler said: “No-one deserves to be assaulted or abused while carrying out their job. That includes officers, staff and other emergency workers who by the nature of their work expose themselves to increased risks every day to ensure the public are kept safe.
“I am pleased that Amor has pleaded guilty to these offences and will now face justice for his actions.”
