Togas at the ready for Heritage Open Days in south Warwickshire

HISTORY-fans are being invited to travel back to Roman times for Heritage Open Days.

Historical hotspots across the country are throwing open their doors for the free annual culture fest, running between September 8 and September 17.

And properties across south Warwickshire are getting in on the action, including Alcester’s Roman Museum.

The visitor attraction displays Roman artefacts found within the town. Visitors can come along to see what life was like in Roman times from the first and fourth centuries AD. There will be children’s activities, photo opportunities with the museum’s very own Roman soldier, as well as the chance to dress in Roman costumes and handle Roman pottery.

The museum will be open on Saturday September 9 from 9.30am until 4pm and Sunday September 10 from 12pm until 4pm.

On both days there will be a guided tour at 2pm.

Other properties across south Warwickshire taking part include Holy Trinity Church and New Place in Stratford, the Guild Hall in Henley, Moreton Morrell Tennis Court Club and St James’ Church in Southam.
