THE FUNERAL of former Leamington mayor Heather Calver will take place at St Mary’s Church in Cubbington on Tuesday January 28, starting at 2.15pm.
Coun Calver, who passed away in December aged 59 following a battle with cancer, served the Lillington ward between 2013 and 2019. She was Leamington mayor in 2018/19, and also twice deputy mayor.
Heather grew up in Devon. After A levels she won a place at Warwick University where she gained an honours degree in history and politics.
Married to Gerald, they had a son Alex. Her interests included cooking, arts and crafts, and gardening.
Tributes and condolences have come from far and wide, including from Dieter Freytag, mayor of Leamington’s twin town of Brul in Germany.
Dieter said: “Everyone who knew Heather remembers her as a strong-willed and dedicated woman whose heart beat for the town and people of Royal Leamington Spa.”
