TRIBUTES have been paid to a man who dedicated his life to helping saves lives.

Keith Sach was a long term member of The Royal Life Saving Society UK’s Warwickshire branch and had a long and successful history with the charity.

Born in 1948, he joined his local swimming club in Middlesex at a young age and was later encouraged to take RLSS UK awards in lifesaving.

He went on to work as a teacher at Solihull School and served on the National Technical and Lifeguard committee from the mid 70s.

Appointed as RLSS UK Director and Commonwealth Secretary in 1979, he was responsible for the charity’s move from London to Warwickshire in 1980.

The father-of-three also oversaw the visit of The Queen Mother to the Warwickshire headquarters in Studley for the formal opening of the new premises the following year before later becoming RLSS Commonwealth Vice President.

The 68-year-old, who lived near Hatton, not only provided guidance and support to the RLSS UK but also to many swimming pool operators as a safety consultant.

He sat on the bench at several magistrates courts in south Warwickshire and was High Sheriff of Warwickshire in 2013.

RLSS UK CEO Di Steer said: “Keith played a huge part in the society’s history and his impact will always be remembered. Everyone sends their thoughts to Keith’s family at this very sad time.”

And President of RLSS UK’s Warwickshire Branch, John Long, added: “Keith devoted much of his life to the causes of drowning prevention and lifesaving training. He will be sadly missed by his friends locally and internationally.”

Keith leaves behind wife Elizabeth, daughters Kathryn and Alexis, and son Jonathan.
