TRIBUTES have been paid to a young man killed in Leamington after being hit by a minibus.

Rowan Keavy from Moreton Morrell was walking along Europa Way around 3.50am on Monday September 30 when he was struck.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene – between Harbury Lane roundabout and Greys Mallory – but the 18-year-old was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The minibus driver and his four passengers were unhurt.

In a statement, Rowan’s family said: “We know nothing will bring our gentle caring son back, but we would appreciate any information that can be given to the police investigation to help us understand why.”

Alcester Grammar School, where Rowan was a student, also released a statement.

It read: “Rowan was a popular and lively member of our school community and his passing has been a cause of shock and sadness to friends and teachers here.

“He spent the whole of his secondary education with us, passing A levels in Geography and Biology, and taking part in an expedition to Mexico.

“He came back to us after the summer to further improve his qualifications and was justifiably looking forward to a bright and successful future.

“We are thinking of his friends and family, and will do whatever we can to support them at this very sad time.”

Friends also took social media to pay their respects.

Anna-Louise Adams tweeted: “You were such a happy person and in the years that I knew you I never saw you without a smile”, while Tom Lang added: “Will never forget the endless amount of laughter we shared together during our school days mate.”

Police are urging anyone who may have seen Rowan in Leamington on the night to contact them on 101 quoting incident 26 of September 30.
