TWO men have been charged following an incident at the Gurdwara Sahib in Leamington.
Over 50 people were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass following an incident at the Sikh temple on September 11.
Police were called to Tachbrook Park Drive next to Leamington Shopping Park following reports up to 30 men had burst in – some reportedly armed with swords – apparently unhappy at a mixed marriage which was set to take place.
Gursharan Singh, aged 33, formerly of Coventry, is charged with religiously aggravated common assault. He will appear at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on January 11.
And 37 year-old Kulvinder Bir Singh, of Tilehurst Drive, Coventry, is charged with religiously aggravated criminal damage. He will appear at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on January 18.
A 28-year-old man from Coventry was previously cautioned for religiously aggravated criminal damage.
No further action will be taken against 52 men arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass in connection with the incident at the Gurdwara.
