Ultimate chef's cook-off to be hosted at South Warwickshire hotel

SOME of the country’s top chefs will be gathering under one roof in Leamington for the ultimate cook-off.

Chefs from close to home, as well as those as far away as Devon, will descend on the Mallory Court Hotel for the popular ‘Battle of Eden’ on Saturday November 12.

The culinary battle is returning for the first time in five years and sees chefs from hotels across The Eden Hotel Collection go head-to-head in a themed cook-off showcasing the very best of British cuisine.

And this year the pop up black tie event will be hosted at the hotel in Harbury Lane.

Each chef will produce a dish from a specially-designed five-course menu which will be judged blind by guests to declare the ultimate winner.

Mark Chambers, Group Managing Director at The Eden Hotel Collection, said: “We have some fantastic talent within our award-winning restaurants, which are each renowned for the very best fine dining experiences in their region.

“So we’re thrilled to be bringing them all under one roof for the ultimate dining experience right here in Warwickshire. It really will be a night to remember.”

Head chef at The Greenway Hotel and Spa in Cheltenham, Abi Dasalkar – who trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in London – will be defending his crown this year having scooped the title in 2018 whilst working at The Arden Hotel in Stratford.

He said: “I will definitely be doing all I can to keep my title – albeit for another hotel.

“This is a really fun night with fantastic food and flavours. It’s a great chance for us to get creative and use fresh combinations from our local suppliers and home-grown ingredients from our kitchen gardens, and the ‘best of British’ theme this year really ties in with that.”

This year’s theme is a celebration of all things British, with chefs rustling up a course which reflects either the BBC’s 100-year anniversary, the success of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Midlands’ proud motor cars heritage, the British country garden, or a celebration of people at Eden.

Competing alongside Abi this year will be Tim Jenkins from Brockencote Hall Hotel in Kidderminster, Simon Haigh from Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington, Mark Budd from Bovey Castle in Devon, and Lee Cresswell from The Arden Hotel.

While The Eden Hotel Collection will also be inviting a number of special guests from its hotels who have gone above and beyond in their work over the past year.

Tickets costing £125 per person or £1,200 for a table of 10 can be purchased by calling Mallory Court Hotel on 01926 330214.
