BUDDING snappers are invited to enter Leamington in Bloom Partnership’s annual photography competition.
Photographers of all ages and abilities can submit a photo with the theme of ‘Contrasts in Urban Nature’.
The aim is to capture how the bustling urban setting of Leamington balances and juxtaposes its relationship with the natural world.
Submissions should showcase the town’s green spaces, such as The Holt, Wych Elm Arboretum, The Dell, Eagle Recreation Ground, Dragon Cottage, Midland Oak Park, Ford Fields, Newbold Comyn, Redlands Recreation Ground, community gardens and allotments.
All locations must be within the town boundaries.
Entrants may submit up to three photographs in landscape orientation, in either colour or black and white.
The photographer whose image is chosen as the overall winner will receive £50, with second and third place receiving £35 and £20 respectively.
The top three winning photographs will feature in the 2027 Leamington in Bloom Calendar and in future promotional materials, including the portfolio submitted as part of the town’s entry to Heart of England in Bloom.
The winners will also be invited to a special Leamington in Bloom celebration event hosted by the mayor later this year. An additional eleven highly commended photographs will also be included in next year’s calendar.
Leamington mayor Coun Ruggy Singh said “Leamington is fortunate to have a wonderful variety of green spaces throughout the town, offering moments of beauty alongside our busy urban environment. This competition is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate those special places through photography and to showcase the relationship between nature and town life in Leamington.”
Email Katherine Geddes, deputy town clerk, at [email protected] for an entry form. The competition closes at 6pm on Friday August 28.
