Village church serves up a little slice of heaven

FOODIE heaven is being served up at a village church.

St George’s Church in Newbold Pacey will be opening the doors to pop-up restaurant ‘Bistro St George’ – for one night only – to raise funds for the church.

Dining tables will replace pews while chefs Nigel and Lisa Hyde serve up a three course meal.

And there will even be a culinary quiz including biblical food questions.

Church warden Cilla Cook said: “We thought our beautiful church with its friendly, welcoming atmosphere would make a good place for a pop-up restaurant.

“It’s a real novelty and we really hope that lots of people from the area, not just church-goers, will come along, bring their friends and tuck into dinner with a difference.

“We’ve got several excellent cooks among our members and Nigel and Lisa have produced some memorable meals at previous fund-raising events. “It’s in a great cause too – raising the funds to keep St George’s Church as a source of peace, beauty and spiritual support, not just for our ‘regulars’ but for everyone in the community.”

The event takes place on Saturday June 1, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15. Email [email protected] to book.

Those with dietary requirements should notify the church when they book.
