Vulnerable people will be given a helping hand this Christmas

Leamington Editorial 22nd Dec, 2017   0

VULNERABLE people and those sleeping rough in Leamington will be invited to celebrate and keep warm over the festive season.

From this evening, the LWS Night Shelter and the Leamington Night Shelter – with help from volunteers – are opening for two weeks to provide food and shelter to those in need.

Warwick District Council – which has been arranging accommodation for rough sleepers during freezing temperatures – is shutting shop for Christmas.

And the two shelters – which operate at weekends and on Wednesdays – will keep their doors open throughout the season, to ensure warm food and beds are available every evening.

Leamington Homeless charity Helping Hands has also been operating in the run up to Christmas – providing drop-ins, its regular soup kitchen and has even been playing Christmas DVDs and offering festive treats.

And on the day itself, the charity is serving up a three course Christmas dinner to vulnerable people and families, with the help of staff at House Restaurant in Leamington.
