THE CLAWS are out for a national competition – and decorated by a Warwick nail technician.

After honing her craft for nine years, Katie Barnes has been shortlisted as one of 24 finalists in the Next Top Nail Artist competition.

The owner of Simply Nails and Beauty in Smith Street is the only UK finalist in the reality show-inspired contest that will see contestants complete challenges to determine which of them will be packing up their paintbrushes at the end of every week.

The 28-year-old is hoping to make it all the way to the final three as they will be invited to a major trade show in Chicago before the winner is crowned.

She said: “I love the opportunities this industry brings and what can be created with nails using different mediums. I have a passion for it and love to constantly challenge my skills and techniques

“I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to see this journey begin.”
