A RUSTY Rally saw a Warwick boss raise more than £36,000 for charity by driving across seven countries in three days.

Ben Reid, who is chief executive of the Midcounties Co-operative, went on his adventure behind the wheel of an old Volvo car costing less than £500.

Ben drove across UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland before finishing at Italy’s Lake Como.

The money he raised will go to the Outward Bound Trust – a scheme enabling young people to take part in outdoor learning courses and see what they are capable of.

Ben said: “I’ve worked with The Outward Bound Trust on a series of projects in the past, and have first-hand experience of the valuable difference these courses can make.

“For me personally, The Rusty Rally has been a truly unforgettable experience, but more importantly, by doing it we’ve been able to raise a huge amount of money to help young people supported by the Outward Bound Trust to improve their lives.”
