WARWICK District Council has appointed a new chairman – virtually.
Out-going chairman Coun George Illingworth virtually handed the chain of office to Coun Martyn Ashford. Coun Pam Redford was elected as vice-chair.
Although the online proceedings were very much a first for the council, the new chairman kept with tradition in naming his chosen chairman’s charity for the coming year as the British Heart Foundation.
Coun Ashford said: “I feel it’s important to support this charity because heart disease affects more people in the UK than any other condition. I am therefore aiming to raise funds during my year in office to support their drive to encourage healthier lifestyles which will prolong life spans by many years.”
