Warwick District Council goes Green

WARWICK District Council has gone green.

The council remains in no overall control following the Local Elections but The Green Party is now the biggest group with 14 members after winning six more seats.

Reflecting the national picture, it was a bad night for the Conservatives who went from the largest group on the council to the fourth, after losing 13 seats to leave them with six.

Labour won six seats to give them 11 seats, closely followed by the Liberal Democrats who picked up one extra seat to give them ten councillors.

The three independent Whitnash Residents candidates all retained their seats.

Neighbouring Stratford District Council saw the Liberal Democrats gain control.

The group won 15 seats to give them 25 councillors, while the previous ruling Tories lost 14 seats leaving them with 12.
