EVERYONE Active, which operates five leisure centres on behalf of Warwick District Council, is celebrating after taking home the headline accolade at a top industry awards night.

The ukactive and Matrix Flame Awards are the health and fitness sector’s largest celebration of innovation and excellence. Everyone Active scooped the most coveted award of the night, Operator of the Year, at a ceremony in Telford.

Everyone Active manages Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, Castle Farm Recreation Centre, St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, John Atkinson Sports Centre and Meadow Community Sports Centre in partnership with Warwick District Council.

It will also manage the refurbished Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre when it partially reopens to the public in August this year.

The award recognises performance across all aspects of operation. It is the fifth time the leisure operator has achieved the title, having won the award last year and on the three consecutive occasions in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Everyone Active’s leisure centre in neighbouring Stratford also won the prestigious Leisure Centre of the Year award in acknowledgement of its facilities and commitment to improving health and wellbeing in the local community.

The achievements come as Everyone Active – the longest-established leisure operator in the UK – gears up to celebrate its 30th birthday later this year.

Managing director David Bibby said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the status of Operator of the Year for the fifth time. All of our colleagues from across the company strive to give customers the best service and experience possible when visiting our sites, and I’m very proud that their hard work and dedication has been recognised by others in the sector.

“Everyone Active has expanded rapidly in recent years, and now manages more than 150 leisure facilities and cultural services across the country. As we grow, we are determined to bring top-class facilities to more communities and ensure we help as many people as possible to improve their health and wellbeing by getting active.”

District council culture spokesman Coun Michael Coker added: “I’m delighted to see Everyone Active winning this prestigious award, which further endorses Warwick District Council’s decision to select this operator to manage our centres for the next ten years. People from the whole community have a lot to look forward to over the next few months when they can start to experience the excellent service and programmes for themselves.”
