Warwick Hospital garden given a makeover

Laura Kearns 14th Nov, 2016   0

GARDENS at Warwick Hospital have been spruced up thanks to a team of volunteers.

Over three days volunteers from heating manufacturer Baxi cleared paths, weeded flower beds, cut back trees, painted fences and even restored a Wendy house.

The 18-strong team bought plants to brighten up the gardens and restored the Chapel’s peace garden and secret garden, where vegetables are grown for use in the hospital kitchens.

Danielle King from Baxi said: “I loved the experience. Everyone was motivated to help and make a difference. I think the work we did exceeded hospital expectations and the team of volunteers had a great sense of camaraderie. Everyone got stuck in and we achieved what we set out to do.”

And hospital spokeswoman Abbey Morris said: “Our experience with Baxi has been a great success, despite some bad weather at the start.

“We always need volunteers for a variety of activities at the hospital, including improvements to our patient gardens and rehabilitation areas for cancer patients and care of elderly patients.”
