ALMOST £2,000 was banked for charity thanks to the annual Fiver Friday at Warwick Racecourse.
The event – which enables adults to go to the races for just £5 – was held in aid of four local charities.
The charities – Molly Olly’s, Safeline, Warwickshire Search and Rescue and LWS Nightshelter – provided free entertainment to youngsters including face painting, beat the buzzer and arts and crafts, raising a grand total of £1,883.19.
Morrisons community champion Alex Pearson, gave her support to the day.
She said: “What a fantastic day we had. The atmosphere was amazing. The charities who supported us on the day were great and the fact we got the awareness of the charities out was just as important as raising money for them. We had mayors of Warwick, Leamington and Whitnash as well as gold medalist Lewis Williams who all came down to show support.
“I want to say a huge thank you to Vicky Hunt for allowing us to be a part and the rac course for being amazing hosts. Really look forward to working together again in the future.”
Racecourse general manager Thomas Williams added: “It is fantastic we can offer an affordable family day out during half term that is so well received, to try and inspire the next generation of race-goers.
“We have seen continuous growth since then culminating with 4,282 in attendance on Friday.”
