Warwick School pupils gather to hear town crier

A HARK back to historical news announcements delighted pupils at Warwick School.

Pupils gathered to hear the Warwick Town Crier Michael Reddy as he granted an extra week’s holiday at half-term for the boys.

The school’s annual tradition is thought to date back to 1912.

Mr Reddy then visited classrooms to collect donations for the Warwick Town Christmas Lunch which is organised to combat festive loneliness. Altogether nearly £600 was raised.

Mr Reddy said: “Incredible generosity from the pupils and staff at Warwick School, as we were taken from classroom to classroom, me holding out my tricorn hat for the charity that will bring together and feed 80 local people that would otherwise be on their own this Christmas day.

“As it got heavier and heavier I knew it was a big amount, but was blown away by the final count.”
