AN ANIMAL protection charity has thanked Warwick shoppers for their generosity.
Animals Asia which aims to save bears and other animals from cruelty in China and Vietnam, raised nearly £200 following a street collection in the town centre.
Asian black bears are kept in tiny cages and poor conditions before bile is extracted from their gall bladders for use in Chinese medicine.
The charity also helps abandoned cats and dogs in China – sometimes sold in meat markets – as well as helping protect those often abused in the country’s zoos and safari parks.
