Warwick youngsters complete charity bikeathon

ALTRUISTIC youngsters saddled up for a charity bikeathon in Warwick.

Some 50 children, aged from two to ten, spent two hours cycling or scooting round Victoria Park to raise cash for Blood Cancer UK.

They have raised £1656 so far and all received a medal for completing the ride.

The budding cyclists were led off by Warwick District Council’s bicycle mayor Steve Storey. He then stayed on to encourage the children as they completed their laps – some notching up over 30.

Blood cancer UK is the UK’s only charity devoted to raising funds to research treatment for leukaemia and other blood cancers such as Hodgkin’s, myeloma and the lymphomas.

Organiser and branch chairman Anne Oliver from Warwick said that it had been a marvellous morning. She thanked the committee and their friends, who had given up their Sunday morning to marshal the event and ensure the safety of the children.
